Protecting The Environment
In line with the high ethical standards we set ourselves, we strive to ensure that our business practices are environmentally sound. Elements of the print industry are major consumers of paper and other substances that have the potential to have an adverse effect on our planet and its ecosystems.
Having been through a careful selection process, Viva Poole has chosen as its print partner a UK company at the very forefront in terms of minimising its environmental impact and holding both Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) and ISO 14001 accreditation.
FSC: The FSC is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests.
The FSC’s logo is used by companies and products to indicate that they have been produced and operate according to the FSC criteria of responsible forestry management, using resources from sustainably and fairly managed sources. FSC accredited print means that we can be completely confident that we are helping to protect the welfare of the world’s forests. See www.fsc.org for further information.
ISO 14001: This international standard formally acknowledges a company’s achievement in implementing and continually improving their environmental management system. The standard dictates that that our print partner not only conforms with all environmental laws and regulations, but actively works to minimise the environmental impact of all current and future activities and processes, reduce energy use and promote environmentally considerate practices throughout its supply chain. See www.iso.org for further information.
Sustainable and environmentally friendly printing is part of the ethos we share with our print partner. Using vegetable-based inks and working closely with J&G Environmental nearly 100% of paper waste and 100% of metal waste is recycled. All packaging, digital photosensitive drums, blanket cylinders, ink containers and cartridges are also recycled. Indeed, even the wooden crates and pallets on which supplies are delivered are recycled by a not-for-profit organisation which turns them into wood chippings for use in children’s playgrounds.
Readers and clients of our magazines can be confident that our business is not harming the planet.
