Auto Windscreens roll out vehicle awnings
To keep thousands of customers on the road in all weathers, Auto Windscreens appointed Dorset-based, Broadview, a leading UK manufacturer and supplier of awnings and blinds, as its key supplier to manufacture and supply a unique awning system for use on the company’s fleet of mobile fitting units.
Auto Windscreens is the only automotive glazing services company to have the innovative wet weather awning. Designed in-house by Auto Windscreens’ Innovation and Training department, to date Broadview have supplied more than 500 bespoke vehicle awnings to the automotive glazing services firm.
The undercover manual awning is an innovative solution to ensure that working days are not lost due to inclement weather conditions. The under cover environment ensures that the bonding material used in glass replacement remains dry. As a result, Auto Windscreens’ mobile replacement units are now fully equipped to repair and replace damaged vehicle glass for private and corporate customers when it’s raining.
Deployed in just under five minutes, the awning projects four metres from the side of the Auto Windscreens vehicle from a compact 300mm by 182mm unit, allowing a vehicle to drive underneath for repair. Manufactured from a robust powder-coated aluminium framework with stainless steel components, the product has a vinyl PVC reinforced fabric cover.
Sales director at Broadview, Martin Rayner, says: “We are extremely proud to work with Auto Windscreens and provide an innovative solution to enhance the company’s customer service. Our brief was to provide adequate undercover shelter which could easily project manually from the side of the fleet of Ford Transit vehicles to enable technicians to work in a dry area. We teamed up with Auto Windscreens’ Innovation and Training department to design an awning which incorporated two side window fabric panels and required minimal storage inside the vehicle.”
Nigel Davies, Sales and Marketing Director at Auto Windscreens, commented: “Auto Windscreens prides itself on being a leading innovator within the automotive glazing services industry. The wet weather canopy is a prime example of us putting our ideas into practice and making them work for both our technicians and customers.”
